An important precept of sober curiosity is that you don’t ever have to give up alcohol entirely. That’s what makes it sober curiosity and not sobriety. But it is about introducing moderation as you see fit. Maybe you’re embarking on an all-day-drinking sesh and don’t want to be floored by 2pm. Or you’re DD but want to have a drink within your legal limit. Or you just want to taper off after a few strong drinks. Whatever the reason, we’ve got you. With these low ABV, high flavor drinks, you can dial back the booze and still enjoy a delicious cocktail.
Ritualtini (Low ABV)
Ah, the classic martini. Drink of choice for James Bond, Winston Churchill and Homer Simpson. We enjoy it low abv by replacing regular gin with our non-alcoholic gin substitute and keeping the dry vermouth. That way you can indulge in one or several without dreading tomorrow. Make it shaken or stirred as you see fit. We’re all about options.
3 oz. Ritual Gin Alternative
1/2 oz. dry vermouth
Olives, lemon twist or cocktail onion
Fill a shaker with ice, Ritual and white grape juice. (Make it dirty with 1/2 oz. olive brine.) Shake or stir according to your preference. Strain into a chilled glass. Add garnish of your choice.
Last Word (Low ABV)
This prohibition-era cocktail has made its way back into contemporary culture. We make it low abv by substituting Ritual Gin Alternative for the real thing, but it’s got a little kick from the green chartreuse and maraschino liqueur. This drink has a perfect balance of sour, sweet and herbal. Indulge!
3/4 oz. Ritual Gin Alternative
3/4 oz. green chartreuse
3/4 oz. maraschino liqueur
3/4 oz. fresh lime juice
Maraschino cherry for garnish
Add all ingredients into a shaker with ice. Shake shake shake. Double strain into a chilled coupe glass.
Ritual Roy (Low ABV)
And we cap things off with another classic cocktail, our take on the Rob Roy. We substitute the traditional whiskey with our whiskey replacement, but keep the sweet vermouth to make this low abv. The perfect last drink.
3 oz. Ritual Whiskey Alternative
1 oz. sweet vermouth
Splash of water
3 dashes bitters
Put all ingredients into a shaker filled with ice. Stir until well chilled and pour into a glass, with or without additional ice.
